Megger’s Center of Excellence for Partial Discharge (PD) solutions in Aachen is seeking a freelance Project Manager (PM) to lead development projects from initiation to closure. While working on-site in Aachen, you’ll be the central interface between R&D, product management, and management — shaping how we deliver innovation.

Your tasks:
As Project Manager, you’ll be involved across the entire project lifecycle:
- Initiation – Define project scope, requirements, and timelines with Product Management Office (PMO) & engineering teams. Be the primary point of contact for PMO and upper management.
- Planning – Help determine methodology and create detailed project and resource plans (milestones, deliverables, risks, dependencies). Allocate resources, assign responsibilities, and embed safety measures.
- Execution – Oversee project execution by ensuring compliance with performance, safety, and testing standards, applying the agreed methodology, and facilitating effective communication between R&D, PMO, and cross-functional teams.
- Monitoring & Controlling – Track progress, costs, KPIs, and risks. Report transparently to product managers and implement corrective actions when needed.
- Closure – Deliver final reports, KPIs, and certifications. Run lessons-learned workshops and drive continuous improvement of methods and workflows.
Your Profile:
- Certified PM (PMP, IPMA) or experienced engineer with strong project management background
- Experience in R&D project management highly valuable
- Bonus: background in electrical engineering or software development
- Technical understanding of hardware and/or software development processes
- Extroverted communicator, strong at building relationships and keeping the big picture in mind
- Capable of guiding teams and leadership toward feasible and sustainable project outcomes
